The Hockey Club at UM-Flint announced today that it's petition to join Division III of the ACHA for the 2009-2010 season has been approved. In addition, the Club is applying for admission to the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference (MCHC) in whatever capacity the Conference deems appropriate. The status of this request will be decided at the Conference's May meeting. This move would align the Club Team at UM-Flint with teams in Michigan of similar school size, demographics, and be natural compeititors. There are 13 schools participating in the MCHC, a few of which are Saginaw Valley State University, Kettering, Northwood, Oakland, Lawrence Tech, LSSU, LCC, JCC, Hope, & Adrian. We see this as a natural progression of the program, said Team President, Tom Garavaglia.
